Gus

August Oliver joined the fray yesterday afternoon. He was coerced into coming out with a little mysoprostyl (?) and got the hint pretty quickly. It took a couple hours of labor (and they don't call it labor for nothin'). He came out purple from the effort, but he was great from the get go. He is a stout dude, just like his brother. Weighing in at nine pounds and just over 20 inches, he cried for the first few minutes, but has been pretty much sleeping since. His vitals are all strong. As soon as he came out we we noticed how much he and Kai looked alike. He took to the boob without issue. All the things you hope for in childbirth.

So our family is a little bigger now. The house feels great. My mom is here helping - bless her. So we have a nice crew here to make the first couple weeks as smooth as possible. Katie is doing really well. She came out of this episode better than last time. She keeps saying it was "less intense" than last time, but it sure seemed intense enough for me. Anyhow, she doesn't have to pee every six minutes anymore and seems really grateful. We are all home now and it feels very nice.

Present

We are excited about having number two, but this has been a really nice spring with the three of us. I am sure anyone who knows us is ready for exciting news, but I wanted to put it out there that this is a really nice time. Spring is here, but if you look down the alley in the picture you can see that there is still a lot of snow in the mountains. We won't see singletrack (dirt) in the north end of the valley for a long time. Maybe July before the high country is mostly dry. The resort is closed but they could be open for another month no problem. The rivers will rage, fo sure.

Anyhow, I'll post again real soon, I am sure. Katie is ready, we just need the baby to decide its time to come out.
