Winter

It has arrived. The dry, warm weather has been tough to swallow. The resort has had trouble blowing snow because of the temps and the natural snowfall was mostly only in shaded areas on north facing aspects. Grass dominated the scenery. A storm from the south has laid down a base of heavy, wet snow. The same storm is beating on the mid-west right now and it continues to fall here as well. It is a relief and a nice change of pace. There is still some grass sticking through the snow, but winter is definitely here.

Kai was out in his winter suit with Katie when I got home from work. They were out shoveling the driveway. I tried an e-brake slide into my spot - part of my stunt-driving style - but ended up stuck in the snow bank across from our driveway. Katie had her back turned and didn't even notice me until I was revving the motor trying to rock out of my predicament. Katie gave up on shoveling, as the snow was falling too hard to justify it, and helped me get into the driveway.

Katie is starting to show pretty nicely now. We are halfway through the pregnancy. It is going to be quite a show around here once the new one arrives. Kai is getting so good at tearing this place apart. Not only can he use ASL to say "eat" and "more," he can also open the cabinet and pull out whatever it is he wants to stuff into his chubby little face. He likes to spread out the toys and really address as many of them as possible in as short a time as possible. Its all good fun around here, though. We are in bed by 8:30 most nights, totally pooped. Though I outlasted Katie a couple nights this week reading, I am usually twitching awake as my book or magazine falls toward my chest when I creep into sleep.
