Landscaping
Yesterday Christian and I spent the day in the dirt. I rented the Bob Cat excavator with a thumb attachment for moving rocks and we went to town. Christian had secured the rocks from his neighbor Conan, who had a backhoe working on another project but offered to load the rocks if I could get a truck up there. Construction is going crazy up here, so it was rather miraculous, but I got a dumptruck up there and got the load of rocks for about $85. The companies we had been researching were asking $500-$1000 per load.
First, we built a retaining wall across the front yard. Then we set to building a swail to move water away from the foundation and set the grade of the yard to help with the process. It was a long day, but the results are sweet. Next step, sprinkler system. After that its sod, seeding, and patience.
